Scholarship
UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries and Dance Centre school of performing arts, our main sponsor, joint-bursary program for dance established in 1997. The Friends-of-the-Arts foundation Scholarship Program divided into 2 categories through the Solo Dance Competition and the Young Choreographer
The scholarship is an initiative of FOTAF since 2006 .
FOTAF collaborates with NJ magazine to promote dance education throughout Thailand.
150 scholarships awarded for a three months to Thai Youth during the year 2006 - 2010 funded by Dance Centre school of performing arts.
Since 2011 the scholarships were changed to one-year fulltime scholarship funded by the income and donation from ‘The International Dance Festival and International Solo Festival’.
30 young choreographers received fund and opportunity to showcase their creations during the International Dance Festival since 2007.
Objectives
To give the opportunity to Thai teenage who passionate in become professional dancer / choreographer.
To give a proper training method from basic to professional level.
To give the chance for students to have opportunity to learn from professional teachers both Thai and International.
To give the opportunity for students to perform and create their work in the professional environment.
To network and collaborate with individual performing artists.
To educate and open minds to the joy of life through performing arts.
The Solo Dance Competition
International and local dance training. Scholarship recipients were selected from young talented performing artists
12 scholarships are as follow:
1 year schorlarship at Oplas Theater, Italy
1 year scholarship at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore
1 year scholarship at London Studio Centre , London U.K.
2 weeks Summer school scholarship at Pineapple Performing arts school, London U.K.
2 weeks Summer school scholarship at the National Conservatory of Dance, Lisbon Portugal
1 month Summer school scholarship at Stage Arcachon , France
3 months (6) scholarships at Dance Centre, school of performing
Scholarships are presented at the opening ceremony of International Dance Festival.
Young Choreographer
Between four to eight Thai choreographer are selected and then given the opportunity (and the funds) to stage their production at one of the friend-of-the-Arts foundation events or through Baramee Art
